Reconstruction of the triclinium or dining room in the comanding officer’s house at Arbeia Fort, South Shields. The triclinium was named after the three couches typically found in the dining rooms of upper-class Romans. The triclinium was a beautifully decorated room because it was a room where a lot of time would be spent eating, relaxing and having long conversations with guests.
